February 2022 Update
We have reached our goal to pay for an electrician to add power to the last two kennel areas! Our electrician has started the job and will add a sub panel, power and outlets to the remaining kennels. We have ordered a clear, heavy duty tarp and carabiners.
Due to your generous donations, we have received 14 of the 30 dog house heaters still needed. We will install the dog house heaters this month so our dogs will be warm this winter. January 2022 Update
We have accomplished a lot last winter with the donation of 30 dog house heaters and the hiring of an electrician to run power to 15 kennels. LED string lights are installed in all sections of the kennel and many heavy-duty clear tarps have been purchased and installed. A recent donation from Heidi Taylor – in honor of Benny/Taz and Sampson provided 60% of the electrician’s invoice. Power is now provided to the 15 kennels and all 30 dog house heaters are in use.
Our goal now is to purchase an additional 30 dog house heaters and hire an electrician to provide power to the remaining kennels. We also need more carabiners and clear, heavy-duty tarps to hang on one remaining kennel row.
CARL’s Winterizing Project aims to upgrade the kennels so that no dog has to endure another cold night. Our goal is to install dog house heaters in the sleeping area of each kennel. This project began in the Fall of 2020 in memory of our sweet Tanner, and in his name, we were able to start this project. We aim now to complete this project with heaters, tarp and donations to hire an electrician.
We have consulted with an electrician and have an estimate for $7,313.25 to run power to two more rows or 30 kennels. The dog house heaters are listed on our Amazon Wish List and we have already received 5 to date. We are asking for $8,500 at this time to include the electrician’s estimate and tarps.
In loving memory of Tanner, Cole and many more of CARL’s senior dogs that we have had to say goodbye to. We want to make sure we are doing all we can for the current dogs as well as future dogs of CARL. Every donation helps make the dogs just a little bit more comfortable while they are with us.
