How to Volunteer is at the bottom of the page.

Volunteers must be 18 years or older to have direct contact with out dogs, due to insurance policy rules.  But we have other opportunities for younger volunteers.  They must be accompanied by an adult.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for CARL!  Volunteers are vital to our success and we couldn’t carry out our work without their dedication and support. We would love for you to join our volunteer program and welcome any commitment you are able to offer – however great or small. Find out how you can make a difference and become part of our effort to save lives.

Direct Dog Care

The more engagement and interaction the dogs receive, the better chances they have at getting adopted. Volunteers are the key to this process. They can help by spending time walking the dogs (Walking is everyday in the morning hours only.) or bathing our furry friends. Training is another outlet that the CARL dogs benefit from, and there is always a need to make our dogs more prepared for their forever homes. Volunteers may also take dogs offsite (requires approval) to advertise them to the public along with observing their behaviors outside of the kennel.

Adoptions

Mobile adoption events are the best way to advertise our dogs to potential adopters. This is a fun way to spend a Saturday or Sunday giving back, and the dogs love going to them. With the help of more volunteers, we are able to showcase more dogs at these events in hopes of finding them homes.

Outreach / Community Support/ Marketing

This is an exciting opportunity to engage with the community and spread awareness about our mission and various ways to contribute. The opportunities are endless! Past and present volunteers have dedicated their time and effort in improving CARL's publicity, social media, community events, fundraising, the list goes on. This is a vital role in keeping the rescue moving forward in its mission to save and protect dogs.

CARL Boutique Thrift Store

The thrift store helps fund the rescue and is always looking for volunteers to assist in sorting donations, test working condition of items, and with keeping the store clean and orderly.  Volunteers especially get to use their creative abilities to help make the merchandise eye-catching to purchase along with interacting with customers, all while raising money for a great cause.

Volunteer Team

Help us with all kinds of fun ways to get more volunteers, keep them happy, train them, etc. For example, help us with doing orientations for new volunteers, communicate and help organize volunteer events. The sky's the limit!

Facility Support

Keeping the dogs as comfortable as possible while in a kennel environment is important to CARL staff and volunteers. Kennel maintenance, yard-work, and overall care of the facility is an area the staff and volunteers pride themselves on. Volunteers can do a great job to make the sanctuary as home like as possible.

1. Fill out an online VOLUNTEER APPLICATION.
